When Alignment is Doing Enough

When Alignment is Doing Enough

Here I am, writing while I'm dealing with a major stomach flu and a wealth of uncertainty that has been plaguing my system, my somatic cues, my emotions, my mind—for nine, grueling months.

I left my career thinking that my business was going to just take over as my newly found source of income. That my joy and desire of becoming a self-made entrepreneur was going to be my ticket out of this and give me the financial and personal freedom I wanted.

How so little I knew about myself then—nor how little I expected how my life would transform in that short time!

Alignment doesn't come wrapped in a pretty box

You see, identity alignment doesn't come from a simple process of trial and error. Nor is it handed to you. It's made and found.

I started Fluxline.pro with a vision: An idea that said I wanted to become the best version of myself and help others do so through helping people see themselves in their work, their job, their lives.

(And don't get me wrong—I still strongly believe that and have made Fluxline to specifically embody identity alignment and resonance.)

But what's weird is that in this process, I didn't expect my own transformation to happen the way that it did—let alone that one was going to happen to me in this time!

I changed because I was ready to change

My transformation happened instead through happenstance of tears, frustration, fear, and resentment. I went through the motions of thinking I needed to understand what my business was supposed to be—because I wanted it to reflect me. But what happened was nothing short of a miracle—I aligned and transformed as I was making the business myself!

  • ✨I defined my personal and business pursuits all in one.
  • ✨I found that resonance and identity alignment are embodied sides of who I am.
  • ✨And as I defined what my business ended up being, so too did I define and find myself.

The abstract means of how I saw the world just spilled out onto my personal and digital presence. And you can see it now: Fluxline.pro, TerenceWaters.com, aligned social media, blog posts, portfolio pieces, personal and business presences, even how outspoken I am today!

I found myself through alignment with my true self

In The Resonance Core Framework™, I teach people that for you to be an effective individual, you must align your entire being in who you truly are and make decisions that resonate with yourself and others in accordance with that alignment. Because your identity is the one thing no one can take away from you... and ironically, the one thing you can control, shape, update, and transform.

But I didn't know truly how important it was until after these nine months of literally no work shaped my perspective of it all. Because in the end, I learned that I'm not just an aspiring entrepreneur... oh no. Instead, I'm much more rounded in my approach to life.

And it became self-evident in the smallest, simplest acts of alignment with who I truly am that made the difference.

  • I knew... but didn't truly know... that I am a lifelong student and teacher.
  • I love people by inspiring them to be their best selves.
  • I love sharing my resonance with others through felt experience.
  • I express my devotion to my spiritual, knowledgeable, fit self through all my levels of knowledge and experience.
  • I don't fit just one mold of person—I'm not just a personal trainer, a writer, a student, an entrepreneur, a goal-setter, a driven steward of my success. I'm all of them put together!

And the hardest part I had to learn for myself was that my constant need to push so much work out the door at once was actually hindering my ability to flourish and transform.

Alignment comes in small truths and wins, not large strides

This is the point I wanted to drive home today. My alignment happened when I learned to notice who I was and why I do what I do—not in the huge wins or push-through work I did day-to-day.

  • That work distracted me from my alignment.
  • That drive to push hard and do so much all at once distorted my vision.
  • That constant fight of wanting to get that next client is what pushed me away from my identity—not toward it.

Letting up was the best decision I ever made. Being okay with slowing down, taking it in, listening, meditating, and paying attention to my cues.

My alignment came from doing "just enough", not shooting for the stars every day.

I say this because today, I'm writing this with an upset stomach, nausea, and vomiting. Not so bad though that I was able to step back after looking at everything and realizing just how far I've come and what I've accomplished.

Because it all just came together, unexpectedly—today.

My truth revealed itself over time because I was willing to let go of what I thought I needed and instead accept what I truly did need. Letting the current sweep me away as I just let go of the oars of my boat—watching the river twist and turn to eventually lead me to where I am today.

And the alignment naturally came with it because I was already doing those things that bring me joy.

  • Teaching.
  • Ph.D. work and dissertation study.
  • Writing.
  • Building and architecting.
  • Socializing.
  • Taking things at a slow, normal pace.
  • Building my book.

And crazy enough, it all aligned:

  • I start school in mid-April and have it fully funded.
  • I'm being put through for a potential SBA micro-loan for Fluxline.
  • I'm securing small wins and cash flow.
  • I'm happy. I'm calm. I'm collected.

And the cue card you see on this page is what I truly learned from it all.

Yes, I can accept willingly those things that I've built AND earned!

  • For I hold my rhythm.
  • I trust my architecture.
  • I let the world catch up by doing just enough—nothing more.

And in the end, that's all I needed.
