The DII Protocol: Decision Integrity Built on Identity
The Decision Integrity Index (DII) is a structured scoring system from The Resonance Core Framework™ — built on six core values and a composite Decision Alignment Score (DAS).
Most decisions get judged by how they turn out. The DII Protocol asks a different question first: did this decision come from who I actually am?
What Is the DII Protocol?
The DII Protocol — the Decision Integrity Index — sits at the heart of The Resonance Core Framework™. It's an index that shows, objectively, how well your decisions match who you're becoming.
That word objectively matters. Our memory is finite, and our minds are very good at telling flattering stories about the choices we've made. The DII replaces "I think that went well" with real data — so you can see where you're aligned, and where you're quietly drifting.
Why It Starts With Journaling
The DII runs on consistent, honest data, and the first source of that data is your journal. Written consistently and objectively, a journal becomes a bank of information that shows trends in how you make decisions — the raw, unfiltered record the DII uses to score and benchmark your alignment.
When it applies, each entry captures:
- Emotional and somatic cues
- Narrative themes and perceived judgments
- The event(s) that occurred
- How aligned you felt with your identity
- Any reframing or integration you did
- Whether the decision felt resonant or dissonant
- Outcomes and patterns you notice
- A DII score for each decision
Without that record, there's no frame of reference — and decisions made without one are easily washed away by the mind's preconceived notions.
Scoring on a Simple 1–5 Scale
Words like "good," "fine," or "OK" mean something different to everyone, so they make poor markers. The DII uses numbers instead.
Score each key decision from 1 to 5:
- 4–5 — resonant decisions that feel expansive and aligned
- 1–3 — dissonant decisions that feel contractive or misaligned
A "4" tells you clearly that you performed well. A "2" tells you something wasn't fully aligned and is worth a closer look. Over time, those numbers become trends — an honest picture of your alignment across weeks and months.
Scores Are Personal Markers, Not Achievements
This part matters most. DII scores are never a measure of success, self-worth, effort, or competition. We're trained from childhood to treat numbers as grades, but that black-and-white thinking has no place here.
A DII score is for you alone — like your journal — to show where you're going and how you got there. It's data, not a verdict.
The Six Core Values
Every DII score is anchored to the framework's six core values:
- Embodied Awareness — decisions grounded in presence and self-awareness
- Modular Precision — a life structured into clear, adaptable parts that plug into a coherent core
- Resilient Alignment — staying connected to who you are in real conditions, not just ideal ones
- Somatic Discipline — reading and regulating your cues so you respond rather than react
- Creative Truth — expressing your reality without needing others to confirm it
- Strategic Innovation — applying your values and DRIVEs to create new, aligned solutions
The Decision Alignment Score (DAS)
As the protocol deepens, individual scores roll up into the Decision Alignment Score — a single view of how aligned a decision is. It draws on three sub-scores:
- SSI (Self-State Integrity) — how aware you were of your own alignment or misalignment in the moment you decided: whether you were acting from who you are now or from outdated patterns
- EROI (Emotional Return on Investment) — whether the physical and emotional effort you put into something leads to outcomes that feel worthwhile, aligned, and sustainable
- Shadow Index — the pull of shadow (contractive) cues on a decision, which lowers the overall score when fear, avoidance, or distortion was doing the deciding
The book walks through the full scoring in Part III.
Start Today
You don't need the whole protocol to begin. Journal one decision today, give it a score from 1 to 5, and write one line on why. Do that for a week and you'll already see patterns you couldn't see before.

Structured Summary
The DII Protocol (Decision Integrity Index) is the decision-scoring method within The Resonance Core Framework™ by Terence Waters. Decisions are recorded through daily journaling, scored on a 1–5 scale against six core values, and roll up into a composite Decision Alignment Score (DAS) with three sub-scores: SSI, EROI, and the Shadow Index.

FAQ
- What is the DII Protocol?
- The DII Protocol — the Decision Integrity Index — is the decision-scoring method within The Resonance Core Framework™. It shows objectively how well your decisions match who you are becoming, using consistent journal data and a simple 1–5 score.
- How are decisions scored in the DII?
- Each key decision is scored from 1 to 5. Resonant decisions that feel expansive score higher (4–5); dissonant decisions that feel contractive or misaligned score lower (1–3). Over time, the scores reveal trends in your alignment.
- Are DII scores a measure of success or self-worth?
- No. DII scores are personal markers, not achievements. They exist only to show trends, improvements, and clues for identity alignment — never to rank, judge, or compete.
